ASL/English Interpreting Program College and University Policies
Students with Disabilities
Students with disabilities who seek reasonable accommodations in the classroom or other aspects of performing their coursework must first register with the 海角社区Student Accessibility Center (SAC) located in Building 57, Room 1500. SAC staff members work with students to obtain required documentation of disability and to identify appropriate accommodations as required by applicable disability laws including the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA). After receiving all necessary documentation, the SAC staff determines whether a student qualifies for services with the SAC and if so, the accommodations the student requires will be provided. SAC staff then prepares a letter for the student to provide faculty advising them of approved accommodations. Military and Veteran Students
Military and veteran students who return from combat exposure may be utilizing the post 9/11 GI bill to continue postsecondary education goals and may need both physical and academic accommodations. Contact the Military and Veterans' Resource Center by phone (904) 620-5131 or email mvrc@unf.edu.
University Enrollment Policy
Only students admitted to 海角社区are entitled to enroll in classes, and only students who are enrolled are permitted to attend class meetings. Sitting through a class without registering does not constitute enrollment. Instructors are authorized to bar students who are not enrolled from attending classes until evidence of enrollment is presented to the instructor. Even if non-enrolled students are allowed via the instructor's oversight to remain in a class, university policy prohibits students from being added to a class roster after the reinstatement deadline. The primary responsibility for assuring that a student is enrolled in a course belongs to the student. Students are encouraged to check their enrollment status several times during each semester with an advisor or via the 海角社区website.
Policies Governing Student Conduct
海角社区has a Student Conduct Code to promote responsible behavior for all students and to assure a physically, emotionally, and intellectually safe university community. This code addresses issues that may threaten the safety and order of the university environment and provides procedures and remedies for addressing these issues. Specific issues include, but are not limited to, sexual misconduct, endangerment, harassment, hazing, possession/use of weapons, alcohol, and illegal drugs, damage or destruction of property, malicious mischief, computer miscues, and falsification/fraud. Students who are aware of and/or feel they are victims of any activity in violation of the Student Conduct Code should report the activity to the University Police or the appropriate campus administrator.
Academic Integrity Policy
海角社区has adopted a strict policy on professionalism and academic integrity. Academic integrity violations include claiming work as your own that originated elsewhere, fabrication or falsification, multiple submissions of the same work, and complicity. Email Policy
UNF's policy on student email allows academic and service units of the University to use email as the primary means for communicating certain types of information to students. Although individual instructors may determine that "external" (i.e., non-University-provided) email accounts are a suitable means for communicating with students, the University policy specifies that the University-provided email address serve as the "official" email address for purposes of formal electronic communication with students. 海角社区does not guarantee that official email routed by the student to alternative email accounts will successfully reach those accounts. You should check your 海角社区email regularly as that is where all communication from your professor will be sent.
Class Policies
- All posted due dates and times are based on Eastern Time. Assignments are due on the dates indicated by 11:59 pm EDT. Assignments are closed past the due date and no make-ups are allowed.

- Unless otherwise indicated, all assignments must be submitted in Microsoft Word so that feedback can be provided using Track Changes.
- Professional interpreters operate under the umbrella of an ethical code of conduct, and ethical representation of yourself is foundational to your work. Therefore, the 海角社区Interpreter Education Program adheres to a rigid standard of academic integrity. Consequences of integrity violation are at the discretion of the professor and include assignment failure, course failure, and/or expulsion from the Interpreter Education Program. Students with a pattern of academic dishonesty are subject to program expulsion. The following examples are indicative of academic dishonesty and are punishable by assignment and/or course failure (which amounts to a one-year extension in the program):
- Submitting work that does not follow directions for originality
- Submitting multiple recordings or written assignments more than the required times allowed on the assignment guidelines
- Discarding a previously recorded assignment in GoReact and submitting a subsequent version as if it were the first one recorded
- Collaborating beyond general discussions about assignments when the assignments are individual and not collaborative in nature
- Communicating with anyone during or about an online exam
- Sharing your work with another student prior to a due date
- Turning in work that is not completed independently (without outside influence)
- Completing an online exam/assignment while internet searching or otherwise referring to materials that are not allowed, as noted in the exam/assignment guidelines
- Submitting work that was previously submitted for credit in another class
- Failing to cite the ideas and direct quotes of another author
- Fabricating events, meetings, or mentoring/tutoring sessions that did not occur
- Misrepresenting your work in any way
- The 海角社区Interpreting Program follows the APA (7th edition) citation style.
- Communication between you and your professor is best done via email. Please do not use the "mail" feature of Canvas to contact your professor. Instead, always send an email to their 海角社区email address.
- Video Conference Attendance Policy: Please be respectful of colleagues and guest presenters by observing the following policies for videoconference attendance:
- Locate yourself in a private place without visual distractions (never in a car or outside).
- Lighting, camera angle, background, attire, and behavior should match a professional setting.
- Devote your full attention and mute your microphone upon entry.
- Respect Deaf cultural norms for eye contact and back channeling (feedback).
- Detach from other devices (phones, tablets) or programs (email, social media).
- Be on time. Late arrivals may be admitted when there is a conversation break and it is not disruptive.
- In an emergency that demands your off-screen attention, turn off your camera momentarily.
- Attend videoconferences with your camera on, unless instructed otherwise.
- Engage with the topic and feel safe to participate…all perspectives are needed!
