Nursing - Family Nurse Practitioner (DNP)

Empower Your FNP Career: Excel in Our Advanced Nursing Program

The purpose of this DNP track is to prepare family nurse practitioners (FNPs) to become skilled in meeting the healthcare needs of individuals and families across the lifespan. FNPs concern their practice with the treatment of common, uncomplicated problems and the prevention of disease and disability.

Program graduates will be eligible to take the Family Nurse Practitioner certification examinations. Graduates will also be eligible for licensure as Advanced Practice Registered Nurses (APRNs) by the Florida Board of Nursing.

Who Should Pursue the DNP-FNP?

While this degree track is designed as a BSN-DNP track, those who already hold MSN degrees are welcome to apply for this track if FNP certification is desired. In the past, those individuals possessing MSN degrees would have been directed to make joint applications to the FNP Certificate and generic post-MSN DNP tracks; however, the FNP Certificate track previously offered by the School of Nursing is no longer offered.

Curriculum

The curriculum for the program is based on the American Association of Colleges of Nursing's (AACN's) The Essentials: Core Competencies for Professional Nursing Education (2021) and the National Organization of Nurse Practitioner Faculties (NONPF) Standards for Quality Nurse Practitioner Education 6th edition (2022).

The School of Nursing offers both full and part-time enrollment in this degree program. Questions regarding this track should be emailed to Nursing Admissions.
