The Nesting Place at UNF

The 海角社区Dean of Students Office is home to our Nesting Place program. The Nesting Place program supports students who have experienced resource insecurity, homelessness, or have been involved with DCF (foster, adoption system). The Dean of Students Office works closely with students who may qualify to ensure they are getting the support they need to be successful, both academically and personally.

Within the Nesting Place, students:

  • Have access to Dean of Students support services;
  • Have access to monthly events focused on resources and "adulting" while enjoying refreshments and fellowshiping with other students;
  • Have access to key contact staff within Housing & Residence Life, Financial Aid, etc.;
  • Have access to our Nesting Place pantry, filled with snacks, toiletries, cleaning supplies, household items, school supplies, etc. thanks to our generous donors; and
  • Are eligible to receive scholarships specifically endowed for Nesting Place students to assist with the cost of attendance, meal plans, and/or graduation regalia

Nesting Place Events

As a part of the Nesting Place, students are invited to participate in monthly events hosted by Care Services within the Dean of Students Office. We encourage fellowship within the Nesting Place to build a sense of community within the larger university setting.

Events include:

Meet and Greet events – a time for Nesting Place students to get to know each other (and the Care Services team!) and share a meal together

Branch Out events – a chance to have a meal with and visit an on-campus resource and learn what other offices on campus can do to help

Stayed tuned for future event dates and locations!

My name is Katherine Tavuzhnyanskiy and I am the Assistant Director in UNF's Dean of Students Office. I have been in this position since Fall 2018 and worked at 海角社区as an Academic Advisor prior to my current role. I earned both my Bachelor of Social Work (BSW) and Master of Social Work (MSW) from FSU and I very much enjoy working with students.
