To take advantage of the 2024 - 2025 Student Health Insurance Policy, you must be enrolled as one of the following students who have a requirement for insurance:
- International Students
- Graduate Nutrition and Dietetics Students
- Undergraduate Nursing Students

Academic HealthPlans (AHP)
Eligible students are automatically enrolled by the University of North Florida, unless proof of coverage is approved in the online Academic HealthPlans (AHP) portal. Enrolled students may opt to purchase coverage for eligible dependents. AHP provides:
- Telehealth solutions through AcademicLiveCare
- Aetna PPO is the Preferred Provider and will provide maximum benefits at lowest cost
- Access to Academic Student Assistance Program (ASAP)
- Academic Vision Care
- Academic Emergency Services
Some of the benefits include a $500 individual deductible per insured person, per year at an in-network provider and 100% after a $40 copayment with the deductible waived for a visit to an in-network physician, specialist, or consultant. For more information, visit:

For International Students Only (Students in F-1, F-2, J-1, or J-2 Status)
You must either enroll or waive the Fall 2024 Aetna student health insurance plan in your online Academic Health Plans (AHP) account . Please check your N# email for an account setup email from AHP.
If you decide to purchase an alternate insurance policy, please verify that all mandated benefits listed below are provided by your plan.
Please ensure that your alternate health insurance coverage is active for the dates listed below.
FALL 2024 - 08/17/24-01/07/25

SUMMER 2025 - 05/13/25-08/16/25
You have the option to (1) enroll in the Fall 2024 Aetna plan or (2) waive coverage with your personal health insurance plan.
- Enroll: If you want to enroll in the Aetna health insurance plan, please select the option to enroll online. The $1,217 international health insurance charge will then be added to your myWings bill. You can visit to get access to your Aetna health insurance ID card.
- Waive: If submitting an electronic waiver, the AHP team will be validating that your health insurance plan benefits are meeting the requirements each semester (). This electronic auditing process is for your benefit and ensures that you can get access to any needed healthcare services. You are required to upload a health insurance ID card, dates of active coverage, and documentation of plan benefits. You do not need to upload the 海角社区compliance form. If your waiver is denied, you will need to obtain a different personal health insurance plan that meets the requirements or opt to enroll in the Aetna plan.

International Students in F or J Visa Status and Nursing Students Starting In Spring 2025
- What is the deadline for waiver submission? The deadline for Spring 2025 waiver submissions is Jan. 10th, 2025.
- What happens if I do not submit by the deadline? If you have taken no action by the deadline, you will be billed $1,217 for the Spring 2025 Aetna student health insurance plan. If you have personal health insurance and want the charge refunded, you must submit a waiver and have it approved before the appeal window closes on Jan. 30th, 2025.
- What happens if my waiver is approved after the payment deadline? The payment deadline is Mon. Jan. 13th at 5pm for Spring 2025. If your waiver is approved after 1/13/2025, you will receive a $1,217 credit to your 海角社区account for Spring 2025. /controller/student-financial-services/whentopay.html

- My health insurance waiver got denied (international students). What to do? You can request that your health insurance company provide you with a different plan that meets all the requirements. If that health insurance company does not offer a plan that meets all requirements, you can select a different alternate insurance plan that fulfills the requirements. Otherwise, you can enroll in the Aetna student health insurance plan.
