Student Affairs Community Council

  • MaliVai (Mal) Washington - Chair
    washington headshotMal attended the University of Michigan, finishing his sophomore year ranked as the NCAA #1 tennis player in the nation. In 1996, he reached Wimbledon Championships final and was a member of the United States Olympic Team. Mal is the founder of the MaliVai Washington Youth Foundation, working with at-risk youth in Jacksonville, and the owner of Diamond Life Real Estate, Inc. He holds a Bachelor of Business Administration in finance from UNF's Coggin College of Business. Mal previously served on the Foundation Board and now chairs the SACC as well as chairing the Executive Committee and the Governance Committee.

  • Pandora Aris
    Pandora Aris is a marketing, project management, and event planning professional with a diverse background. She attended Keene State College in New Hampshire and served on numerous boards and committees for the Keene School District, including the Keene School Board, Administrative Selection Committee, and the Technology Task Force. Pandora worked as an event producer for Center Stage in Keene and led a record-setting community-wide event listed in The Guinness Book of World Records. She is now a community and education activist and volunteer leader in Northeast Florida.
  • Art Billingslea
    billingslea headshotArt is a retired Air Force pilot and an Air Force Reserve officer. He earned a Bachelor of Science from the Air Force Academy and a Master of Science from East Texas University. He established the Art Billingslea Military Spouse Scholarship in 2019, an annual scholarship supporting spouses of active duty military members, and also supports the Percussion Excellence Fund in UNF's College of Arts and Sciences.
  • Bob Buehn

    buehn headshotBob Buehn is a retired Navy Captain and an adjunct professor for the US Naval War College, teaching a graduate seminar in National Security Affairs in Jacksonville.  He recently retired as Director, Military and Veterans Resource Center at the 海角社区 after nine years with the university. 

    He retired from a 30-year career in the US Navy in 2008.  He was formerly Chief of Military Affairs for the City of Jacksonville in the administration of Mayor John Peyton. He was appointed by Gov. Rick Scott as Florida Commissioner to the Interstate Compact regarding the educational opportunity for military children, and recently stepped down from that post after 12 years.

    Capt. Buehn is Commander of the Florida First Coast Commandery of the Naval Order of the US. He is a vice-chair of the Cecil Field POW*MIA Memorial, vice-chair of the Operation New Uniform board, past president and member of the Navy League Jacksonville Council Board and past chair of the Greater Jacksonville Area USO, and Chairman Emeritus of the St. Augustine Lighthouse and Maritime Museum board.  He also is a partner in Veterans United Craft Brewery in Jacksonville.

  • Sitou Byll-Cataria

    Sitou Byll-Cataria headshotOriginally from Togo, West Africa, Sitou Byll-Cataria came to the United States to pursue higher education at the 海角社区. While studying, Sitou became deeply involved in campus life and was the first international student to be elected as Student Body President and serve on the university's Board of Trustees.

    After graduating with a Computer Security major and a Math minor, Sitou founded Chic Booth, LLC, a company that provides a unique, photo booth experience for events and includes an array of props, backdrops, 360 video, green screen, etc. Through his hard work and dedication, his business has grown and became successful. In addition to Jacksonville, Chic Booth has offices in Miami, Dallas, and France.  Sitou attributes his success to his values of education, leadership, and entrepreneurship.

  • Poppi Elias - Vice-Chair
    poppi headshotPoppi is the Office and Business Manager for Elias Prosthodontics, a specialty office in dentistry owned by her husband, Dr. Nidal S. Elias. Poppi graduated from the 海角社区 with a Bachelor of Arts in chemistry. Her father, Dr. Satya S. Pachori, was a member of the inaugural 海角社区faculty. Poppi and her family established the Satya and Kamal Pachori Endowed Scholarship. Poppi serves on the Taylor Leadership Committee and the Executive Committee, as well as Vice-Chair of the SACC.  She has been leading the efforts to restore the Gandhi statue on UNF’s campus and has raised money for this project. 
  • Ann Flipse
    flipse headshotAnn is a retired pediatrician and clinical instructor. She is a graduate of the University of Texas, where she received a Bachelor of Arts in the Plan II Honors Program. She received her medical degree from Washington University School of Medicine in St. Louis, and did her pediatric residency at St. Louis Children’s Hospital. Ann is a member of the Brooks College of Health Dean’s Council and a SACC past chair, and she currently serves on SACC's Governance, Leadership, Student Wellbeing, and Veterans Committees.
  • Betty Garris
    garris headshotBetty worked at 海角社区from 1983 - 2000 and then again from 2002 - 2013, overseeing the department of Student Government operations, managing teacher education internship projects, and working with faculty to secure private, state, and federal grants. She also worked at Mayo Clinic in graduate medical education and served as the coordinator for residency and fellowship programs for dermatology, radiology, and oncology.
  • Donnalea Goelz
    goelz headshotDonnalea received her B.A. from 海角社区and a Ph.D. in clinical psychology at the Chicago School of Professional Psychology. She currently works with veterans and first responders with brain injuries at the University of Florida, and funds a research project for UNF’s Military and Veterans Resource Center supporting veteran students struggling with PTSD. Donnalea serves as chair of the SACC Student Wellbeing Committee and is the founder and owner of Cobalt Moon Center, which provides classes and workshops for developing and enhancing healthy lives.
  • An Goldbauer
    A Licensed RN since 1987, An facilitated and directed two NFP hospice programs, administrated and started a for-profit hospice in Chicagoland, developed and ran multi-leveled programs cross-training employees, and taught at the state level on hospice start-ups. He holds a Master of Science in business from NLU’s graduate program, received board certification in transgender care at the International Transgender Certification Association (ITCA), and serves on the advisory board. He is a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health (WPATH). An graduated from the International Institute of Clinical Sexology (IICS) where he earned his doctoral degree in clinical sexology. His dissertation was on sex trafficking; his specialties are in human trafficking and transgender care. 
     
    An has an extensive background in compliance and assisted programs in meeting accreditation and certification for Centers for Medicare and Medicaid (CMS) and in meeting compliance for The Joint Commission and CHAPP. An co-developed a child and teen grief recovery program to include children and youth in bereavement services, assisted programs through mock surveys, developed metrics for performance improvement and care planning, and assisted with trending indicators that changed a 24 on-call to a triage system of care in home health and hospice. He also has expertise in developing and writing manuals and field guidebooks for policies and procedures.
     
    In past years, An has served as chair for advisory boards, corporate boards, and hospital risk management committees, and served on WJCT's Board, an NPR and PBS affiliate in Jacksonville, the Student Affairs Community Council, and the Building Bridges Program at UNF. He also served on the educational committee at Illinois State Hospice Organization (ISHO) under which he taught at UIC in Chicago in Oakbrook, Illinois, and served as hospice liaison for Indiana and Illinois at ISHO. He served on the Jacksonville Youth Equality Committee with pediatricians Jeffrey Goldhagen and Raoul Sanchez.
     
    An served as a volunteer consultant for the Delores Barr Weaver Policy Center’s Open Door Outreach Network (Open Doors), a program for trafficking victims and survivors in Jacksonville, FL. He is a member of the National Press Photographer’s Association, Press Photographers of America, and the American Society for Media Photographers. He is currently completing a documentary designed for parents who struggle with their transgender and non-binary kids, youth, and young adults.
     
    An serves as a professor at IICS and ITCA teaching hormones for Adults and Human Trafficking. He owns and operates an LLC in Saint Augustine and hosts a website for consulting dual services in transgender care and human trafficking. He lives with his partner, two family members, two dogs - a Dachshund mix and a Miniature Dachshund, Zippi and Zumi - and his sister’s cat, Scruff.
  • Willie Gonzalez

    gonzalez headshotWillie served on UNF's Board of Trustees and previously served as a member of the SACC. He is a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He was the District Director for the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) and has served the small businesses of North Florida since December 1996.  Willie retired from the Federal Government last year. 

  • Mark Green
    green headshotMark is a shareholder and president of Green, Showalter, Mercier & Saieg, P.A., where he practices marital and family law. Mark is also very involved in the community and was a 2011 One Jax Humanitarian Honoree. He received his B.S. from the University of Florida and his J.D. from Stetson University.
  • Richard G. (Rick) Hoffman, Jr.

    hoffman headshotRick served twenty-eight years in the U.S. Navy, retiring in 2003. He founded Orion Solutions, LLC, a service-disabled, veteran-owned small business that provides services primarily to the U.S. and allied Navies. Rick earned his Bachelor of Science in biology from The Citadel, his Master of Science in oceanography from the Naval Postgraduate School, and is a graduate of the National War College. He is on several other boards focused primarily on the environment and chairs the SACC's Taylor Leadership Committee. He is also a past chair of the SACC.

     

  • Nicole Isom
    isom headshotNicole is a two-time alumna from 海角社区with both her bachelor's and master's degrees in health administration. She currently serves as the Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Leader for Hueman. She is a member of the Society of Human Resources Management (SHRM), Florida Diversity Council, ImpactJAX, and the Young Professional Organization of the JAX Chamber. 
  • Debbie Johnson
    johnson  headshotDebbie is a two-time alumna from 海角社区with both her bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University’s Coggin College of Business.  In addition to the Student Affairs Community Council (SACC), she also serves on the University’s Foundation board as well as the Alumni Association board where she is a past president.  She is a founding member of the On Campus Transition Program at UNF, a partnership between the University and The Arc Jacksonville which provides a college experience for individuals with intellectual and developmental differences.  She has served on several SACC committees and is a past chair.  She is a Certified Public Accountant and has practiced in public and private accounting for forty years.  In addition to her service to the University, she is a board member and past chair of The Arc Jacksonville; vice-chair of Groundwork Jacksonville; board member of Happy Brew; treasurer of Slough Ministries International; member of Jacksonville Women’s Network; member of United Way of Northeast Florida’s Community Investment Council; past board member of Leadership Jacksonville; and a current member and past chair of the City of Jacksonville’s Southeast Citizens Planning Advisory Committee.
  • Anne Lufrano
    lufrano headshotAnne is a 海角社区Foundation Board member and a retired psychologist who received her undergraduate degree in psychology from Queens College, CUNY, and her doctorate in child and family psychopathology from Cornell University. Anne was an inaugural member of the Student Affairs Community Council and is a past chair. Anne and her husband, Dr. Robert Lufrano, endowed UNF’s Lufrano Intercultural Gallery.
  • Kirsten Martino

    Kirsten Martino headshotKirsten Martino is a proud Jacksonville Native and an owner of Bono’s Pit Bar-B-Q and Willie Jewell’s Old School Bar-B-Q which combines her passion for small business, local philanthropic involvement, and the culinary industry.  She graduated from Vanderbilt University where she earned her B.S. and met her wonderful husband, Josh.  Kirsten has served on the Board of the St. Vincent’s Foundation and Jacksonville Country Day School, is a graduate of the Weaver Philanthropic Initiative and currently serves as the Women’s Giving Alliance Evaluation Co-Chair.  Kirsten currently resides in Ponte Vedra Beach with Josh and three daughters, Ella, Chase, and Mae, and their two yellow labs, Rosie and Max.

  • Jorge Morales

    jorge morales headshotJorge Morales is the chairman of RF-SMART, a division of Information & Computing Services, Inc. (ICS), based in Jacksonville. Founded by Morales in 1982, ICS is a technology firm specializing in wireless, mobile and enterprise software for supply chain management and construction. Morales' vision, leadership and customer-focused approach to the market have enabled him to build ICS into an organization with more than 600 customers worldwide.

    He is a member of the South Jacksonville Rotary Club; past chairman and board member of The Blood Alliance; and board member of The Amelia Island Concours d'Elegance Foundation. Jorge serves as Chair of the Foundation Board Development Committee and is on the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction Dean’s Leadership Council. ICS has provided scholarship support for students in the School of Computing since 2007. In 2015, the company established the ICS Scholarship Endowment. ICS has made it a priority to hire 海角社区alums, many of whom have been previous recipients of the company’s scholarship.

  • Ed Perez
    perez headshotEd came from communist Cuba to the United States as a young teenager. He retired after 42 years as a CSX IT Executive, and his work is now dedicated to the mission field in Northeast Florida and Globally. Ed holds degrees in economics, business administration, and psychology from Milligan College. He also attended Gordon Conwell Theology Seminary as a student of comparative religion. He recently joined the SACC and is a member of the Student Wellbeing Committee.
  • Bridget Rivera

    Dr. Bridget Rivera headshotDr. Bridget Rivera is a licensed psychologist with over 20 years of expertise, specializing in student mental health and higher education. With 15 years dedicated to college counseling and student affairs, she now serves as the Chair of the Psychology Department at Purdue Global. Dr. Rivera has published and presented on topics such as psychological assessment, eating disorders, and cultural competence. In 2023, she contributed to Purdue Global's College of Social and Behavioral Sciences Industry Partnerships Team, which earned Purdue Global's Distinction Accomplished Learners Award. She was also recognized with the 2020 Outstanding Leadership Award from Purdue Global’s College of Social and Behavioral Sciences and received the Martin Mayman Award in 2010 from the Society for Personality Assessment for her significant contributions to the field. Dr. Rivera is an active member of the American Psychological Association (APA), the Society for Personality Assessment (SPA), and The Association for Addiction Professionals (NAADAC).  

  • Linda Slade
    slade headshotLinda is the co-founder of TCI Powder Coatings of Americus, GA, and is a manager at LCS Properties of North Florida, LLC. She is a graduate of the charter class (1974) of UNF, receiving her B.A. in psychology. Linda served as the former president of the 海角社区Alumni Association Board.
  • Kelli Tice

    tice-headshot.pngKelli Tice, M.D., is a family physician with a background in public health who serves as GuideWell and Florida Blue’s Vice President, Medical Affairs, and Chief Health Equity Officer. In this role, which she assumed in January 2022, Dr. Tice is responsible for creating solutions that improve health outcomes and address health inequities for GuideWell’s customers and communities. In addition to leading the company’s health equity strategy, she has responsibilities in the areas of corporate social responsibility and public health surveillance. Dr. Tice is also the clinical lead for Florida Blue’s COVID-19 response. Additionally, Dr. Tice is a key member of the Equity Alliance, an enterprise-wide initiative focused on addressing systemic racism and health disparities for Black Americans. Before her current role, she served as Senior Medical Director for Medical Affairs.

    Early in her medical training, Dr. Tice became interested in addressing health disparities and delivering culturally competent care. Dr. Tice taught cultural competency for physicians and incorporated evidence-based techniques to promote health equity into primary care practice in both private and public clinical settings. She is passionate about health education and enjoys mentoring and community involvement.

    Before joining GuideWell and Florida Blue in 2018, she spent 17 years as a public health physician, serving in numerous leadership roles including that of County Health Officer and State Medical Director for the Florida Department of Health. Dr. Tice is a member of the Florida Academy of Family Physicians, the National Medical Association, and is the current president of the Northeast Florida Medical Society. She also serves as the current chair of the Deans Council, Brooks College of Health at the 海角社区. She received her bachelor’s degree from Florida A&M University, her medical degree from the University of Florida College of Medicine, and completed her residency at St. Vincent’s Family Practice Residency Program.

  • Jessica Lazzara Wynne

    Jessica Wynne currently serves as Managing Partner at MESH Partners, a privately held investment firm with a focus on real estate and healthcare. Jessica’s background in organizational agreements and compliance allows her to guide MESH and its partners in how best to structure entities and ensure regulatory compliance and correct reporting. She is a bar admitted practicing attorney in the State of Florida, with her Juris Doctorate from the University of Texas School of Law and a B.B.A. in finance from Southern Methodist University.

    In addition to the SACC, Jessica also currently serves on the Discovery School Board of Trustees. She has previously served on the Jacksonville Public Library Foundation, the Young Ambassador’s Council of the Florida House, and has served on event committees for St. Vincent’s, Wolfson Children’s Hospital, the Jacksonville Public Library, and the American Cancer Society.

    Jessica, her husband Chris, and their four daughters live in Atlantic Beach. They enjoy spending time at the beach, traveling, and with friends and family.
