º£½ÇÉçÇømen’s golf Nick Gabrelcik places top five in final PGA TOUR University rankings
º£½ÇÉçÇø men's golf a senior majoring in sport management, secured a fully exempt Korn Ferry Tour membership for the remainder of the year, after finishing fifth in the final PGA TOUR University rankings for the class of 2024 on Tuesday. The Korn Ferry Tour is the primary pathway for those seeking to earn their PGA Tour card.
The four-time ASUN Golfer of the Year also receives an exemption to the Final Stage of 2024 PGA TOUR Q-School presented by Korn Ferry and the ability to accept unlimited PGA TOUR sponsor exemptions for the rest of 2024 and 2025.
The senior's final ranking places him as the top-ranked player from a non-“Power Five” conference institution. He is also only one of two players outside of the “Power Five” to be ranked in the top-25, alongside Mats Ege from East Tennessee State.
"Nick is the first-ever º£½ÇÉçÇøgolfer to earn a spot through this program, which is really cool," said head coach Scott Schroeder. "He has set a standard that all future º£½ÇÉçÇøgolfers can try and chase".
Gabrelcik concluded an illustrious collegiate career on Monday, securing a top-15 individual finish at the 2024 NCAA Championship. The Trinity, Fla. native earned nine victories in his time as an Osprey, while making back-to-back appearances at the Valspar Championship on the PGA TOUR.
He also holds various records at º£½ÇÉçÇøincluding most career top-five finishes (24), most career top-ten finishes (33) and most career rounds under par (84).
Gabrelcik credits his collegiate success to his early days of learning golf under his brother’s guidance at the age of eight, as well as the time he spent on the Florida Junior Tour and in various amateur events. Gabrelcik said he chose to attend º£½ÇÉçÇøbased on what he’d heard from several other golfers at the University, and he found Schroeder to be a great motivator.
