hosts ‘Beyond Triathlon’ documentary debut featuring Dottie Dorion and trailblazing female athletes
The will host the debut screening of Beyond Triathlon, an inspiring documentary that delves into the evolution of competitive women’s sports through the eyes of trailblazing female athletes including philanthropist and master-class athlete Dorothy “Dottie” Dorion.
The premiere and reception will take place from 2 to 5 p.m. on Saturday, Oct. 12, at UNF’s Lazzara Performance Hall. All proceeds will benefit UNF’s Athletics programs.
The screening is presented by the , recognized as the longest-running local film festival that showcases American and international independent films.

Dorion, a long-time supporter of UNF, is a founding member of the Osprey Club and an honorary Athletics letterwinner who has established and contributed numerous scholarships for the University. She was also instrumental in the development and construction of the Tennis Complex and provided key funding for the original construction of the Dorion Fitness Center in 1978.The current Dottie Dorion Fitness Center is located on the second floor of the Student Wellness Complex, boasting 27,000 square feet of fitness floor space and over 260 exercise stations.
Beyond Triathlon, inspired by the book of the same name, offers a powerful examination of the challenges, triumphs and significant milestones experienced by women on their journeys in master sports. In addition to Dorion, the documentary features iconic figures such as Celeste Callahan, Nancy Hogshead and Jacksonville Mayor Donna Deegan. The documentary is narrated by Sika Henry and directed and produced by Chuck Malkus and Brian Bayerl.
The film debut will be followed by A Triumphant Toast to Excellence reception, sponsored by Bacardi. A specially blended spirit, inspired by the women featured in the documentary, will make its debut at the event.
