USoar Living-Learning Community
USoar aims to is to empower students with intellectual disabilities, fostering their academic, social and professional growth in an inclusive and supportive environment. The USoar Living-Learning Community is exclusively for those in the USoar program who wish to have an additional level of connection and support with other USoar students through a shared living environment.
The USoar LLC will provide opportunities for students to engage in opportunities for socialization, gaining skills for independence and independent living while participating in campus and community engagement. Students in the USoar LLC will engage in enriching activities, build strong community connections, and benefit from close proximity to 海角社区resources.
Eligibility and Course Requirements
- Complete the Housing Contract and LLC and Interest Housing Application
- Be admitted to the USoar program through the Student Accessibility Center and maintain satisfactory enrollment
- Live in Osprey (TBD) with the USoar LLC
- Attend USoar community events and initiatives including but not limited to regular meetings with USoar LLC students to discuss, plan, and attend activities together
Program Objectives
- Students will learn and develop independent living skills such as doing laundry, cleaning living spaces, navigating campus, and preparing meals.
- Students will practice social skills by attending community and campus events and interacting with peers in an inclusive environment.
- Students will independently navigate and engage with campus clubs, student life, and resources around campus.
