- The Department of Physics offers state of-the-art equipment for research. 海角社区is one of only a few universities where students can work with a helium liquefier and in a molecular beam epitaxy lab.
- The William C. Webb Coastal Research Station, 1,050 acres of pristine saltwater marsh along the Intracoastal Waterway, provides coastal biology students and others with research opportunities.
- The Department of Psychology provides students training on a Near-InfraRed Spectroscopy system, giving them hands-on experience on cutting-edge brain imaging technology.
- COAS students gain valuable real-world experience through community partnerships. English, history, geography
and anthropology students and faculty are working together to research and document the history of a cemetery dating back to the 1800s.

College of Computing, Engineering and Construction
- In recent years, CCEC graduates have had a nearly 100 percent employment within six months of receiving a degree. To expand hands-on experience prior to employment, more than 400 paid internships are available to CCEC students every year, most paying between $16 and $20 per hour.
- The College is housed in the renovated Skinner-Jones Hall with new classrooms, labs and offices that enhance student learning, including the Materials Science and Engineering Facility (MSERF), which has several state-of-the-art scanning electron microscopes.
- The University and Johnson & Johnson MD&D Global Services partnered to establish the 3D Printing Center of Excellence at UNF, a lab dedicated to the study, research and development of 3D printing technologies.
- The School of Computing was named a National Center of Academic Excellence in Cyber Defense Education by the National Security Agency and Department of Homeland Security. This designation came weeks after opening a new Cybersecurity Lab on campus.

- The College offers the only accredited American Sign Language/English Interpreting bachelor’s degree and the only Early Childhood Education Leadership master’s degree in the state, as well as the only Deaf Education Degree at a Florida public university. COEHS also offers future teachers unparalleled clinical opportunities in a strong network of 海角社区Professional Development Schools, a national award-winning collaboration.
- The 海角社区STEP Lab, housed in the COEHS, is a STEM learning resource for regional students and teachers, faculty, 海角社区students and community partners. The College’s full-time partnership with the Northeast Florida STEM2 Hub and Code.org has enabled the College to become a major player in the Northeast Florida STEM ecosystem. In addition, COEHS was recently awarded a $4.1 million SEED grant from the U.S. Department of Education to prepare teachers in pre-kindergarten through second grade classrooms to integrate STEM and computational thinking in teaching models.
- Citing internship opportunities in the NBA, PGA and MLS, the Sport Management program was ranked No. 4 in the nation among the 25 Best Bachelor’s Sports Management Programs by Bachelor’s Degree Center. COEHS is also home to an Executive in Residence Program and Sport Data Analytics Lab. The Lab is a one-of-a-kind hub to share data analytics expertise through partnered projects and consultations with sport-related organizations, while the Executive program features local business owners, CEOs, and experts in the field of sport management who serve co-teach classes and mentor sport management students.
- The College is committed to supporting future teacher educators through the Osprey Teacher Residency(OTR) Programs. The OSPREY Teacher Residency Program is designed to support 海角社区students in pursuit of teacher education degrees through tuition support, stipends and program-based incentives.
- The College houses the #4-ranked sport management program which is situated in sports-rich Jacksonville where our students are afforded experiential and community-based learning and industry experience. - The Hicks Honors College offers high-achieving students a unique community-oriented first-year experience and a customized upper-division curriculum (and allows transfer students to participate).
- Each year, the first-year cohort of honors students completes over 9,000 hours of community service.
- In 2020, the Hicks Honors College pioneered "virtual study abroad" in first-year experience courses, in which students participated in meetings and collaborations with students from southern Africa, Latin America and Eastern Europe.
- For the fall 2020 semester, the Hicks Honors College hit an enrollment record of 264 first-year students, up over 13% from the previous year, and now has a total of over 850 students in the program.
- Nearly 75% of honors students make the dean's list their first semester and over 70% graduate in four years.
