  On Monday, October 21, 1:30-2:45 PM, Dr. Nuria Ibáñez of the Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures will discuss the summer study abroad program that she leads in Burgos, Spain. Dr. Ibáñez will be accompanied by several students who participated in Summer 2024. The students will share their final projects and discuss their experiences. This event will take place in the Language and Culture Lab, Building 15/Room 1105, is open to all. The presentations will be in Spanish, but attendees are welcome to ask questions in English.

• Thursday, February 2: Chandeleur, France's Crêpe Holiday (��������Homecoming)

  In France, the round shape of crêpes represents the sun and the circle of life, while the act of eating and sharing with others commemorates a historical tradition of popes giving food out to the poor every year on February 2. Location: Language and Culture Lab, Building 15/Room 1105.

  The ��������International Poetry Festival will be throwing its doors wide open to celebrate poetry, with eye-catching poets from all over the world and accessible events bursting with linguistic delights. Discover a world full of poetry that experiments, confronts and inspires, with readings, special thematic events, and workshops. There will be poetry everywhere! • Tuesday, April 4: "Un tal Alonso Quijano"
  The International Poetry Festival begins with a screening of the film Un tal Alonso Quijano (Spanish with English subtitles). The film will be followed by a live, bilingual Q&A with film director Libia Stella Gómez.

  A screening of the film Kóokayen ku k'a'ajsik u chiich / Soy una luciérnaga que recuerda a su abuela (in Yucatec Maya and Spanish, with English subtitles) at 3:15 in the Robinson Theater, Building 14A. The film will be followed with a live Q&A with the filmmakers.3

• Friday, April 7: Jamboree/Food Truck/Open Mic/Poetry Reading and Workshop with Michelle Lizet Flores 

  Join us for the finale of the International Poetry Festival, taking place in the Ogier Gardens, Noon-5 PM. The events will include a food truck, an open mic session, and at 2 PM, a poetry reading and owrkshop with local poet Michelle Lizet Flores.

  The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures will host a screening of

  Le chat du rabbin as part of its Cine Thursdays series. Time: 5 PM. Location: ��������Gallery of Art, Building 2/Room 1001. Description: "After devouring a parrot, the rabbi's cat becomes a smooth-talker and starts questioning his master's religion. The rabbi forbids him from spending time with his daughter Zlabya. But the cat, madly in love with her, is prepared to do anything."

• Friday, April 14: Zumba "World Music" with Langauges, Literatures and Cultures

  The Department of Languages, Literatures and Cultures will host a screening of

  Le grand voyage as part of its Cine Thursdays series. Time: 5 PM. Location: ��������Gallery of Art, Building 2/Room 1001. Description: "A middle-aged man of Moroccan descent embarks on a long journey from southern France to Mecca. He unexpectedly asks his son to go with him. Reda, a thoroughly Westernized teenager, is taken aback by the request. Given their different cultures, the pair's relationship starts off cold and distant, but the ice starts to thaw as they get to know each other."

• Tuesday, April 25: Voces y Caras Presentation

  is an ongoing digital oral history project that engages heritage speakers of Spanish in developing questions and recording interviews with members of the growing Hispanic/Latinx community. At this annual event, the students who contribute to Voces y Caras: present their work to the campus and community.  Time: 3-4:30 PM. Location: ��������Gallery, Founders Hall, Building 2/Room 1001
