Year End Update 2023

Dear friends, alumni, colleagues, and community partners,

This past year has been a time of transition for the 海角社区, Brooks College of Health. I am proud to currently serve as the Interim Dean with our two new Associate Deans, Dr. Michelle Boling and Dr. Julie Merten. Thank you to Dr. Curt Lox and Dr. Cathy Christie for their guidance and leadership in 2023. 

As we all prepare for the holiday season and New Year, we wanted to share a few highlights from this past year.

Highlights

Graduation Stats

981 Graduates

In year 2023, we proudly graduated 981 students!

676 Bachelors
177 Masters
116 Doctorates
12 Graduate Certificates

Students graduated from the departments of Clinical and Applied Movement Sciences, Health Administration, Nutrition and Dietetics, Physical Therapy, Public Health, and the School of Nursing.

Nursing

The School of Nursing was awarded matching State legislative funding of nearly $800K based on successful healthcare partnerships with Mayo Clinic, HCA Healthcare South Atlantic Division, and Baptist Health.

Clinical and Applied Movement Sciences

Cams 41,000 clinical education hours

Students in the Department of Clinical and Applied Movement Sciences completed more than 41,000 clinical education hours working with community partners.

Health Administration

MHA top 100

The Master of Health Administration Program in the Department of Health Administration was recognized as one of the top 100 graduate programs by and a top-value program by .

Meals on Wings

meals on wings unf.edu/brooks/cnfs

Through Meals on Wings, the Department of Nutrition and Dietetics recovered almost 40,000 pounds of food from local hospitals and used this food to provide 44,000 meals for seniors in the Jacksonville community.

Physical Therapy

100% graduation rate 97& pass rate

The Department of Physical Therapy had a 100% graduation rate for students with 97% of students successfully passing the national licensure exam.

Public Health

Multiple faculty in the Department of Public Health have taken leadership roles with professional organizations, including Dr. Amber Barnes who was selected to take part in one of the World Health Organization’s First Guidance Development Meetings.

Counseling Center

6000 appointments

The Counseling Center is fully staffed and provided more than 6,000 appointments to 海角社区students with no wait-list this past Fall semester.

Student Health Services

Student Health Services provided 6,654 appointments, and participated in 98 outreach and education efforts, engaging over 3,046 students.

BCH Academic Advising

95 percent retention rate increase 2 percent registered credit hours

The BCH Academic Advisors have worked hard this year to ensure we are retaining students at UNF. Our Fall 2023 full-time, first-time in college cohort progress to retention rate is over 95% and the total registered credit hours has increased 2% compared to the same period last year.
