OUR 海角社区ANGLE
Our visual storytelling centers on the 海角社区angle. Inspired by architecture on campus and flight path of the Osprey, our angle represents how we move upward and onward as individuals and a community and impact the world around us. The 海角社区angle is also a literal reference to our University name and geographic location in Florida.
THE ANGLE
The 海角社区angle is 38 degrees, developed using the reverse of the angle in the “N” in UNF. When we use this angle consistently, it creates cohesion across the University and is the embodiment of true north.
It is important not to alter or misuse the angle in any way in order to not dilute the University’s visual storytelling. Please do not alter the direction or degree of the angle, and do not use competing line elements in place of the angle.
The angle can be used in a multitude of ways while maintaining consistency in designs, without feeling repetitive.
THE ANGLE AS A BACKGROUND
To add dimension to simplistic compositions we can use the angle as a background. Allowing a gradient to bleed from our angle adds depth without distracting from our main message.
The angle can also be used with solid colors to add hierarchy to a layout.
THE ANGLE AS A GRAPHIC ELEMENT
Using the angle as a solid line can help organize information in an ownable way.
The angle can anchor text and interact with other design elements in simplistic compositions. Below, the angle separates text to create a bold headline layout.
THE ANGLE AS A PHOTO FRAME
Filling boxes set at the 海角社区angle with photos allows us to show that 海角社区has a different point of view.
These image boxes can stand alone or work together to create more complex compositions.
THE ANGLE AS A PATTERN
We can create artwork and patterns that emphasize the angle and create an abstract “ripple effect.” Using the gradient within these patterns adds depth and dimensionality to compositions. Using solid colors or simpler lines adds interest without distracting from important information.
