The MSW Program utilizes standardized instruments developed by the Social Work Education Assessment Project (SWEAP) to assess students' mastery of the Council on Social Work Education's nine Core Competencies at the generalist and advanced generalist levels of social work practice. Students complete a multiple choice exam at the end of their first (generalist) and second (advanced generalist) years of study to measure changes in their knowledge of the Core Competencies. In addition, students' mastery of the Core Competencies is evaluated by their field instructors at the conclusion of their generalist and advanced generalist field education placements.
