º£½ÇÉçÇøalum John Wagner awarded first Annual Healthcare Leader of the Year Award
The º£½ÇÉçÇø’s Brooks College of Health (BCH) proudly presented its first annual Healthcare Leader of the Year Award to John Wagner, an accomplished º£½ÇÉçÇøhealth administration program alumnus, during the International Healthcare Symposium last week. Wagner, vice president of value-based care growth at Lucerna Health and a Jacksonville Beach City Council representative, was recognized for his exceptional healthcare leadership and public service contributions as well as unwavering commitment to improving health outcomes.
A proud double Osprey, Wagner earned his bachelor’s in business administration (‘90) and his master’s in health administration (‘94) from UNF, laying the foundation for his impactful career.
“The leadership skills and insights I gained through my education and connection with º£½ÇÉçÇøhave been instrumental in helping me achieve my career and personal development goals,” Wagner said. “Beyond the professional advantages, the program has also enriched my life by fostering a network of lifelong friendships united by a shared passion for improving healthcare.”
Wagner has established himself as a distinguished leader in the healthcare industry, holding pivotal roles at Lucerna Health, Flagler Hospital (now UF Health), Berkely Research Group, ACO Health Partners, Walgreens and Florida Blue. He also demonstrates his dedication to public service by serving on the Jacksonville Beach City Council.
An active contributor to the BCH community, Wagner is a BCH Founding Member and serves on the Health Administration Advisory and Alumni Boards, reflecting his commitment to mentoring future leaders and fostering innovation in healthcare administration. He also actively supports many nonprofit organizations, including Angelwood, Disability:In North Florida, BEAM, Beaches Museum, and the United Way Tocqueville Society.
Wagner’s dedication to civic engagement and philanthropy has left a lasting impact on both º£½ÇÉçÇøand the Jacksonville community.
