UNF’s Coggin College of Business (CCB), in partnership with the College of Computing, Engineering and Construction (CCEC), is now accepting applications for the new Master of Science in Fintech (MSFintech) program. It is the only degree of its kind offered regionally.

The School of Computing is also accepting applications for a new concentration in fintech within the Bachelor of Science in Computing and Information Sciences degree

The new fintech programs both launch in fall 2024 in Jacksonville, which was recently named by the Wall Street Journal as the No. 2 “hottest job market” in the country and hailed as a strong “tech and finance outpost.”

“Fintech has rapidly become a key industry in Jacksonville and Florida,” said Dr. Richard Buttimer, CCB dean. “The MS in FinTech is another example of UNF’s ongoing commitment to developing the talent that will drive the economic growth of Jacksonville.”

The fintech concentration at the undergraduate level equips students with the skills needed to navigate the intersection of finance and technology and introduces topics such as data-driven financial modeling, financial data mining, machine learning and financial data analytics. The MS in FinTech merges the rigor of finance with the innovation of technology and analytics to prepare students for leading roles in shaping the evolving financial landscape.

Students will network while in school and be prepared to enter jobs with locally based fintech giants such as FIS, Deutsche Bank and Dun & Bradstreet.

"We are proud to be educating current and future fintech leaders in Northeast Florida,” said Dr. William Klostermeyer, CCEC dean. “These programs will provide crucial opportunities for undergraduate and graduate students to gain the technical and finance-related knowledge needed to fuel the workforce and make Jacksonville a global leader in fintech."

The Bachelor of Science in Computing & Information Sciences is currently accepting students into the new concentration. The MS in FinTech is a 30-credit hour (10 course) STEM-designated program that offers flexibility as students can complete the degree while attending full- or part-time to allow for the busy work and life demands of career professionals.

These new programs expand 海角社区fintech offerings including the Master of Science in Business Analytics with a concentration in FinTech that began last fall.
