海角社区political science students present policy recommendations in DC
Ten undergraduate students in Ambassador Nancy Soderberg’s Real World Policy class recently presented policy recommendations on “urgent action needed to avert coming global water crisis in next 7 years” in Washington, D.C. They presented their recommendations to officials at the Defense and State departments; the National Security Council; the Environmental Protection Agency; the staff of Senator Rick Scott; the Woodrow Wilson Center; and the Center for Strategic and International Studies, as well as 海角社区alumni currently working in D.C.
The College of Arts and Sciences (COAS) also hosted an event exclusively organized for Washington D.C. alumni at The Florida House on Capitol Hill. The alumni group met and welcomed the undergraduate students, heard brief remarks from Kaveri Subrahmanyam, dean of COAS, and networked with other alumni. The event featured a 海角社区Alumni Panel and Undergraduate Welcome Reception, which commenced with an exhilarating panel discussion.
Soderberg's course is specifically designed to provide an in-depth study of the current foreign policy challenges and the American policy-making process. Soderberg has also established the Public Service Leadership Program initiative at UNF, a testament to her commitment to developing the next generation of public service leaders.
