Bremen/海角社区Double Degree

Earn two bachelor's degrees: one from 海角社区and one from Hochschule Bremen in Germany.

 

The Bremen/海角社区double degree is an exciting opportunity to combine a love of German language and culture with an interest in international business. Earn two bachelor's degrees by spending two years at 海角社区and two years at Bremen, including a four to six month internship in Germany. Explore below to find out if this program is right for you!

Overview

Bremen/海角社区Dual Degree Program

The BBA International Business: Bremen/海角社区program is an undergraduate double degree designed for  and 海角社区Coggin College of Business students to earn two bachelor degrees while taking business and language courses and participating in internships in the US and in Germany. Upon successful completion of all program requirements, each student earns both of the following bachelor degrees:

  • Bachelor of Business Administration (Major in International Business)
    • Awarded by the 海角社区 | Jacksonville, United States
     
  • Bachelor of Arts
    • Awarded by Hochschule Bremen | Bremen, Germany 

Accreditation

海角社区 Institutional Accreditation Statement

The 海角社区 is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. Dual Degree Accreditation Disclaimer

The 海角社区 (UNF) is accredited by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools Commission on Colleges to award baccalaureate, masters, and doctorate degrees. Hochschule Bremen is not accredited by SACS Commission on Colleges and the accreditation of 海角社区does not extend to or include Bremen or its students. Further, although UNF agrees to accept certain course work from Bremen to be applied toward an award from UNF, that course work may not be accepted by other colleges or universities in transfer, even if it appears on a transcript from UNF. The decision to accept course work in transfer from any institution is made by the institution considering the acceptance of credits or course work.

Coggin College of Business Accreditation

The Coggin College of Business is accredited by The Association to Advance Collegiate Schools of Business (AACSB-International) for both business and accounting.

Hochschule Bremen Accreditation Statement

The BIM (Business/International Management) Double Degree program has been institutionally accredited as of 23/05/2019, valid until 30/09/2026 (in compliance with the requirements of HSB’s internal quality management standards). This program is specifically characterized by its international profile as well as its practice orientation.

海角社区Student Curriculum

Curriculum & Coursework

Students participating in the Bremen/海角社区double degree program earn one degree from 海角社区and one degree from Bremen. While many of the courses taken in the U.S. and Germany count toward both degrees, some apply only to the 海角社区degree or only to the Bremen degree. It is possible to earn the 海角社区Bachelor of Business Administration with a major in international business if a student chooses not to complete the additional Bremen coursework. In this case, the student earns only one degree, not the Bremen degree, and does not earn the double degree concentration.

Students who begin at 海角社区should visit the 海角社区student Osprey Map for a detailed program curriculum, including coursework required at each university. Students who complete this program in its entirety earn 143 credit hours. The portion required for the 海角社区BBA is 120 credit hours. General education coursework, business prerequisites and German language courses are completed at UNF; additional business and German courses plus an internship are completed at Bremen:

Year One: 海角社区(Jacksonville, U.S.A.)

Students participating in the Bremen/海角社区double degree program earn one degree from 海角社区and one degree from Bremen. While many of the courses taken in the U.S. and Germany count toward both degrees, some apply only to the 海角社区degree or only to the Bremen degree. It would be very difficult for German students to earn the 海角社区degree without completing the requirements for the Bremen degree as well.

Bremen Student Curriculum

Students who begin at Bremen should work with their program coordinator at Bremen to ensure they are taking the appropriate courses prior to coming to UNF. Once students arrive, they should visit the Bremen student Osprey Map for a detailed program curriculum, including coursework required at each university. Students who complete this program in its entirety earn 153 credit hours. The portion required for the 海角社区BBA is 120 credit hours. German Abitur Table

海角社区recognizes the German Abitur for this double degree program only and may award up to a maximum of 27 semester hours of credit. Students who earn credit through the German Abitur examination in one subject may not earn credit through another exam or course in the same subject. 海角社区may award up to two university courses per subject exam. About Bremen

Hochschule Bremen

Located in the heart of Bremen, the  offers a wide range of courses that incorporate both a long academic tradition dating back as far as 1799, and an emphasis on innovation and preparing students for the requirements of today´s working world. The total number of students enrolled at Bremen University of Applied Sciences is about 8,000, spread among 4 campuses. With enrollment of over 3,000 students, the School of International Business (SiB) is the largest faculty at the institution and is located at Campus Werderstraße. SiB strongly believes in the value of internationalizing business education by sending students abroad and by hosting international students on Bremen's campus.

 

Bremen, Germany

The Free Hanseatic City of  has more than 1,200 years of tradition as a port and trading city and is a bustling, cosmopolitan and multicultural city - with a population of over 540,000. Bremen is one of Germany´s major foreign trade and industrial centers and it also earned the distinction of being the "City of Science 2005." Bremen is a truly green city with its many magnificent parks, gardens and open spaces. The Rhododendron Park has more than 680 rhododendron varieties and around 1,000 other varieties of plants. Due to its proximity and topography, the city is a paradise for cyclists. Everybody is a cyclist in Bremen - from students to executives. Museums, art exhibitions, theaters, football, festivals, concerts, opera and ballet provide Bremen with an abundance of cultural events. A wide variety of cafes, bars, pubs, restaurants, clubs and discos make Bremen an inviting place to go out and enjoy life.

Estimated Costs

Students accepted to the double degree pay home-school tuition for the entire program, as it runs on an exchange basis.  Bremen students pay tuition only to Bremen; 海角社区students pay tuition only to UNF.  

Tuition and Fees

View UNF's tuition and fees chart to determine approximate costs for time spent at UNF.  Costs for the two years at Bremen will be similar, but extra items students need to cover while abroad include the following:

  • one round-trip flight per year
  • international health insurance (about $1.50 per day)
  • student visa (about 75 Euros)

Study Abroad Funding

Students are encouraged to start exploring scholarship options early!  Some have application deadlines up to a year in advance.  Once accepted to the Bremen/海角社区double degree program, students are welcome to contact the International Business Flagship Program to discuss scholarship options in more detail.

How to Apply

Students Beginning at UNF

The 海角社区 accepts five students per year into the Bremen/海角社区Double Degree Program. Students interested in applying through 海角社区must first meet the university's admissions requirements. While a background in German language is not required, it is helpful to have the equivalent of Beginning German I before beginning this program.

  1. Step 1: Cultivate an interest in German language and culture.
  2. Step 2: Submit an application to the 海角社区 and pay the application fee ($30 USD).
  3. Step 3: Meet with your academic advisor during orientation to plan your academics.

Students Beginning at HS Bremen

German students are nominated by their program coordinator at Bremen.  Once 海角社区receives the nominations, students will be contacted about the application process.

Applications should be complete by late March.  After all materials have been received and processed, students are registered for fall semester classes.
