Description:

About forty-five species of Tilia are native to Asia, Europe, and North America. They are deciduous trees. Some species are used for timber. This species is native to eastern North America. The small flowers are fragrant and attractive to bees.

Location:

See this tree in moist natural areas of campus.

Size:

Large tree to seventy feet tall or more.

Care Instructions:

Light: full sun to part shade

Water: usually found in low, moist sites; some drought tolerance

Soil: adaptable to a wide pH range, well-drained

This native tree is found in moist forests in northeast Florida. It is not found in local nurseries.
