Description:
Over 400 species of Justicia can be found around the world, mostly in warm climates. This shrimp plant is a scrambling herb from Mexico. As with bougainvillea, colorful, long-lasting bracts (yellow, pink or reddish) enclose short-lived flowers. These colorful bracts provide a long season of color in the garden and may help attract pollinators. The flowers are visited by hummingbirds.

Water: drought tolerant when established, may benefit from irrigation during droughts
Soil: very adaptable, no special requirements
This is an easy plant for northeast Florida. Grow in part shade in a well-drained soil. Shrimp plant is evergreen into the mid-20's F.
