Description:

About fifty species of Juniper are native to North America, Europe, Asia and north Africa. Various species have been used for timber and flavorings. Gin is flavored with the fleshy cones of juniper. Shore juniper is native to Japan. Selections have been made by horticulturists for foliage color (green or bluish) and compact growth. It is reported to be very salt tolerant.

Location:

See the compact cultivar 'Blue Pacific' at the entrance to parking lot 7.

Size:

The wild type is a spreading shrub about two feet tall. 'Blue Pacific' grows to only twelve inches tall.

Light: full sun to part sun

Water: best in a well-drained soil, drought tolerant
