Clerodendron bungei - Rose glorybower

Description:

Approximately 400 species of Clerodendron are native to Africa and Asia. This native of China is evergreen in mild years and may die to the ground in cold winters, recovering the following spring. Stems grow to about four feet tall. Leaves are large and somewhat heart-shaped. Showy clusters of pink flowers top the stems in summer. The flowers are attractive to butterflies.

A spreading herbaceous plant with stems to about four feet tall.

Care Instructions:

Light: sun or part shade

Water: drought tolerant when established

Soil: adaptable to a wide range of conditions

In northeast Florida, this is an aggressive grower that spreads rapidly by underground shoots. It may not be appropriate for a small garden.
